Your Urine Color Is Warning You — Don’t Ignore These Signs

Your body is constantly sending signals — and one of the easiest to read appears every time you use the bathroom. Urine color can reveal important clues about hydration, diet, and even early signs that something may be off inside your body.

Clear or very pale yellow urine usually means you’re well hydrated. While this is generally good, constantly clear urine may indicate you’re drinking more water than your body actually needs.

Light yellow urine is considered ideal. It suggests proper hydration and healthy kidney function — a sign that your body is working efficiently.

Dark yellow or amber-colored urine often signals dehydration. When your body lacks fluids, urine becomes more concentrated, reminding you to drink more water before other symptoms appear.

Orange urine can be caused by dehydration, certain medications, or vitamin supplements. In some cases, it may also indicate liver or bile duct issues, especially if it appears alongside pale stools or fatigue.

Pink or red urine may result from foods like beets or berries, but it can also be a sign of blood in the urine. This should never be ignored and may require medical attention.

Brown or tea-colored urine can suggest severe dehydration, muscle breakdown, or liver-related concerns. This color often warrants prompt evaluation.

Cloudy or milky urine may indicate a urinary tract infection, kidney stones, or excess minerals in the urine — especially if accompanied by pain or discomfort.

Urine color can change temporarily due to diet, medication, or supplements. But persistent or unusual colors are your body’s way of asking for attention.

Before you flush, take a second look — your body might be trying to tell you something important.
