For decades, tattoos were seen as rebellious — often linked to bikers, gangs, or people living on the edge of society. Today, they have become something entirely different: a form of self-expression, a tribute to loved ones, or simply wearable art.
But for one father, his tattoos sparked harsh judgment from strangers who believed his appearance defined the kind of parent he must be.
Richard Huff, 51, has turned his entire body into a canvas — with more than 240 tattoos covering nearly 85% of his skin. What started as a passion quickly became an obsession he couldn’t ignore.
👉 “I want to be 100% covered in tattoos within the next four years,” Richard revealed. “I don’t know if it’s the pain or the artwork, but it becomes fascinating once you start.”
Yet the artwork he loves has also brought unexpected challenges.
Some of his children’s friends admit they find him intimidating at first glance. But his daughter quickly defends him:
👉 “They say he looks scary, and I tell them — no, my dad isn’t scary. He’s good… he just has tattoos.”
And the truth? Behind the ink is a devoted father of seven who puts his family above everything else — including three children from his wife Marita’s previous relationship.
Marita describes Richard as “the most gentle and loving person I’ve ever met.” In fact, she says he has stepped up in ways their biological father never did.
Still, she admits that when they first met, his appearance frightened her.
Whenever Marita shares family photos online, the reactions are instant. Some criticize his face tattoos, while others rush to defend him.
💬 “I’m not against tattoos, but does he really need them on his face?” one commenter wrote.
💬 “He likes them. He chose them. He’s a good father — let him be,” another replied.
Richard refuses to let the negativity define him.
👉 “If someone feels the need to judge, that says more about them than it does about me,” he explained. “We’re happy. Our kids are happy. That’s what truly matters.”
He also hopes his appearance teaches his children an important lesson:
👉 “Tattoos don’t make me a bad father. If anything, they help my kids see the world differently — and remind them not to judge people by how they look.”
Sometimes, the people who are judged the fastest are the ones with the biggest hearts.
So — what do YOU think? Is it fair to judge a parent based on their appearance alone?
Share Richard’s story with your friends and family — it might just change the way someone sees the world.
