A devastating three-vehicle collision has claimed the lives of a father and his two young children, leaving a family and community in deep mourning.
The victims were identified as Tommy Moorehead III, 41, his four-year-old son, Tommy Jr., and six-year-old daughter, Lynnlee. The fatal crash occurred Saturday on FM-3133, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Authorities report that a 2007 Dodge 3500, traveling westbound, attempted to pass a 2017 Toyota Tacoma in a clearly marked no-passing zone. During the maneuver, the Dodge collided head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. The impact caused the Chevrolet to burst into flames, killing Tommy and his children at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, but the Texas Highway Patrol has confirmed that an arrest has been made. Rocky Patterson, 63, the driver of the Dodge, has been charged with three counts of manslaughter, each classified as a second-degree felony. He remains held at the Grayson County Jail on a $3 million bond.
In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Brooke Mustard Moorehead, Tommy’s wife and the children’s mother, who lost her entire family in the crash.
“In one heartbreaking moment, Brooke lost everything,” the fundraiser states. “Tommy was a devoted husband and father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family and loved them deeply. Lynnlee was bright, joyful, and endlessly curious, while little Tommy Jr. was just beginning his life, always smiling and full of affection.”
The page also highlights Brooke’s role within her workplace community, describing her as loyal, compassionate, and a source of strength to those around her for nearly a decade.
“Now she faces the unimaginable,” the message continues. “She needs the love and support of everyone who can help her through this painful chapter.”
Funds raised will assist with funeral arrangements and the many unexpected financial burdens that follow such a profound loss. As of publication, nearly $92,000 has been raised toward the $150,000 goal.
Friends and supporters are encouraged to share Brooke’s story and help ensure she does not face this tragedy alone.
