It was itching his body.
Not just a simple, passing irritation, but a deep, relentless itch that seemed to crawl beneath his skin and spread with every passing minute. At first, he barely paid attention to it. People get itchy all the time, he told himself. Maybe it was something minor — a reaction to food, a new laundry detergent, dry weather, or even stress.
But this felt different.
It started on his arms late in the afternoon, just a faint tingling sensation that made him scratch absentmindedly while sitting on the couch. Within an hour, the feeling had traveled to his shoulders and chest. By evening, it had spread everywhere.
His neck. His back. His stomach. His legs. Even his scalp.
No matter where he scratched, the relief lasted only seconds before the irritation returned stronger than before. It felt as if tiny invisible insects were crawling across his skin, biting and stinging him from the inside out.
He tried to ignore it.
He took a shower and changed into clean clothes, convinced something external must have caused it. Maybe dust. Maybe pollen. Maybe some kind of allergic reaction.
But the moment he sat down again, the itching returned with a vengeance.
His fingers dragged constantly across his skin until angry red streaks appeared everywhere he touched. The more he scratched, the worse it became. Soon, his body felt hot and sensitive, every inch irritated and inflamed.
By midnight, frustration had turned into panic.
He paced through the house unable to sit still for more than a minute. He checked the mirror repeatedly, searching for signs of a rash or insect bites, but at first there was almost nothing visible — only faint redness caused by his own scratching.
That somehow made it even worse.
How could something feel this unbearable and still leave almost no trace behind?
He opened windows for fresh air. He drank water. He changed the bedsheets, thinking perhaps something in the fabric was irritating his skin. He even searched online for answers, scrolling through endless possibilities late into the night.
Allergies. Stress reactions. Hives. Skin conditions.
But none of the descriptions truly matched what he was feeling.
The itching wasn’t staying in one place. It moved constantly, almost unpredictably. One moment his arms would burn intensely, and seconds later the sensation would disappear only to explode across his lower back or ankles.
Sleep became impossible.
Every time exhaustion pulled him toward sleep, another violent wave of itching jolted him awake. He scratched until his skin became raw. His breathing grew heavier with anxiety as the hours dragged on in silence.
Then he noticed something strange.
Tiny red bumps had started appearing along his wrists and stomach. At first they looked insignificant — barely noticeable under the dim bathroom light. But as he leaned closer to the mirror, he realized there were more than he thought.
Much more.
Small clusters scattered across his skin like a trail.
A cold feeling settled in his chest.
This was no longer ordinary irritation.
By early morning, the itching had become unbearable. His eyes were bloodshot from lack of sleep, and his entire body felt exhausted from constant scratching. Even putting on clothes hurt now. Fabric rubbing against his skin sent sharp waves of irritation through him.
And then came the moment that truly frightened him.
As sunlight crept through the curtains, he noticed new marks appearing near his neck and shoulders — fresh ones that hadn’t been there an hour earlier.
Something was happening to his body.
Something he didn’t understand.
His mind raced through terrifying possibilities. Was it an infection? A severe allergic reaction? Something contagious? He tried to stay calm, but deep down panic was beginning to take over.
Because whatever this was… it wasn’t going away.
And with every passing hour, it only seemed to be getting worse.
