“Wheel of Fortune” viewers are questioning one of the show’s biggest wins after a contestant walked away with a $70,000 payday during the Bonus Round, with many insisting they heard a different answer than the one judges accepted.

The debate erupted after Boston resident Caroline Smith delivered what appeared to be a stunning last-second solve during the June 1 episode. While the show’s judges ruled her response correct, fans quickly replayed the moment online, arguing that she may have spoken an entirely different word.

Smith, who says she enjoys creating elaborate charcuterie boards for friends and family and regularly shares them on social media, faced off against Veronica Thomas of Maryland and Bob Hagh of Connecticut in a competitive game that featured several momentum swings.

Hagh came out strong by solving both opening toss-up puzzles, while all three contestants battled through the main rounds with a mix of correct guesses, “Lose a Turn” setbacks and “Bankrupt” spins.

Smith seized control of the game during the “Before & After” category when she correctly solved “Slept Like a Baby Back Rib.” Landing on the lucrative $3,500 wedge before uncovering four letter “B”s dramatically boosted her total, giving her a commanding lead.

The Prize Puzzle briefly shifted momentum after Smith made an incorrect solve attempt on what she believed was “It’s Almost Saturday.” Hagh capitalized on the mistake by correctly identifying the phrase as “It’s Almost Summertime,” earning himself a vacation to Mount Rushmore and increasing his overall winnings.

The remainder of the game remained competitive. Hagh captured two of the Triple Toss-Up puzzles, Smith answered the third, and Thomas finally got on the board by solving the final puzzle of the evening.

When the dust settled, Smith advanced to the Bonus Round with $20,850, while Hagh finished with $14,998.

For the final puzzle, Smith selected the “What Are You Wearing?” category and invited her mother, Mary, to stand beside her on stage.

After the standard letters “R, S, T, L, N, and E” were revealed, she added “C, P, H, and O.” The puzzle displayed only a handful of letters, leaving viewers wondering whether anyone could solve it before the timer expired.

With only seconds remaining, Smith blurted out an answer that host Ryan Seacrest immediately accepted as correct. The completed puzzle read “Faux-Fur Parka,” revealing a $50,000 prize inside the envelope and bringing her final total to $70,850.

Seacrest appeared impressed by the quick solve, asking Smith how she figured it out so fast. Laughing, she admitted she wasn’t entirely sure herself.

The celebration, however, didn’t last long on social media.

Fans flooded Reddit and other online platforms, claiming they repeatedly watched the clip and believed Smith actually said “Full-Fur Parka” rather than “Faux-Fur Parka.”

Several viewers said they replayed the moment numerous times with headphones, while others claimed they even watched her mouth movements without audio in an attempt to determine exactly what was spoken.
